Waitrose launches mini edible Christmas trees

Romanesco Cauliflower Christmas Trees will launch in branches of Waitrose this week.

The supermarket chain predicts these ‘edible Christmas trees’, which come with pomegranate seeds and a star anise for customers to recreate their very own mini edible Christmas tree, will be a big hit with shoppers ‘and may even persuade little ones to eat their greens’.

Waitrose head of fresh produce buying Nicola Waller said: “Cauliflower has shaken off its old fashioned image and is currently the veg du jour. For Christmas this year, cauliflower will be taking centre stage on the dinner table.’

The Romanesco Cauliflower Christmas Trees are harvested for Waitrose by farmer Terry Wright of Lincolnshire.
