A student from the Birmingham College of Food has been crowned winner of Kenwood’s Let Them Eat Cake competition.

Francesca Tomkins fought off stiff competition to win the grand final of the cake decorating contest, organised by Kenwood to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year.
Regional heats took place at cookery schools across the UK where students were challenged to bake and decorate a commemorative cake. The regional finalists then recreated their cakes at the national final.
Tomkins has won a cookery course at Mosimann’s Academy and a Kenwood Chef for a cake that was described as “technically perfect”.
