British fine bone china brand Duchess China 1888 has secured new investment as the business sets its sights on further growth in the UK and international markets.
Rob Ward and Kieran Donovan of Open to Ideas have joined Jason Simms and Andrew Tooth as Directors of the business, with the investment set to support the long-term future and growth of the historic brand.
Duchess China 1888 said via social media the backing will enable further investment in its people, skills and manufacturing capabilities, alongside the development of its products and brand.
Mr Simms and Mr Tooth will continue to lead the business, working alongside Mr Ward and Mr Donovan to introduce Duchess to new customers and markets.
The company has been producing fine bone china in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, since 1888, with every piece still manufactured at its Staffordshire home.
Production combines specialist manufacturing processes with traditional hand skills and craftsmanship developed and passed down through generations.
Commenting on the investment, the company said: “This isn’t about changing what makes Duchess China special, it is about recognising how special it already is and giving Jason and Andy the support and investment to realise its potential.”
The investment will also support ambitions to increase awareness of the British-made brand internationally as it enters its next phase of growth.
The brand added: “We’re immensely proud of our 138-year history but we’re even more excited about what comes next.”
