Giftag is the name of a new ‘Made in Britain’ home and gift fair due to launch in London from September 10 to September 12.
The venue is the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane in east London.
Giftag promises to offer ‘an opportunity for the discerning retail buyer to source products and services vetted by the organiser as being designed or manufactured in the UK or Ireland.
Organiser PSM Ltd has been responsible for developing and managing The British Craft Trade Fair (BCTF) for more than 25 years.
BCTF is a three-day event that takes place at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate from April 2. BCTF’s first fair in London took place last September at the Old Truman Brewery in Brick lane. Giftag is next.
The fairs are strictly trade-only and showcase work from exclusively British and Irish makers. BCTF says it differs from other trade fairs in that no mass-manufactured products or products made overseas are allowed. It adds: ‘Visitors can be confident, therefore, that they will be presented with a selection of the best hand-made British giftware available in the UK.’
BCTF Harrogate has been running for more than 42 years and includes a Newcomers Gallery, where emerging makers are supported with BCTF’s business mentoring programme, ensuring they are ready and confident to write trade orders.
BCTF said: ‘There has been much interest in UK-led manufacturing and design in the past three decades and we sit strongly on the world stage with designers like Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Norman Foster and Richard Rogers; manufacturers such as Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, Aga, Wedgwood, Belstaff, Musto and Jaeger: and retailers such as Liberty, Fortnum & Mason and Hamleys.
‘The success of these companies is reflected through the whole UK manufacturing base and it’s time to stand up and shout about it.
‘Giftag is the only home and gift trade fair dedicated to British product and design.’
