June 28 2025 marked the final day of service for Bryan Clover as CEO of the Rainy Day Trust, the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting those in the home improvement industry. After nearly ten years at the helm, he is stepping down, with recruitment for his successor already underway.
In the interim, the charity’s operations will be overseen by Operations Manager Roz Shabazz-Johnson and the Rainy Day Trust’s board of trustees. The organisation has reassured supporters and partners that it’s business as usual during the transition. While response times may be slightly slower, the charity remains open for enquiries through its usual channels, including the general helpline (0800 915 4627) and info@rainydaytrust.org.uk. Mr Clover leaves behind a legacy of nearly 10 years of leadership during which the charity has supported thousands of individuals facing hardship. In a heartfelt farewell message, he thanked the industry and its supporters for their continued backing, and shared a deeply personal reminder of why the charity’s mission remains vital.
“In 2017, when our teenage daughter Evie fell ill and later passed away in early 2018, we had to lean on the generosity of other charities to carry us through a devastating time,” Mr Clover wrote. “It’s a reminder that anyone, no matter who you are, can suddenly find themselves needing help.”
He issued a final call to action for the industry to support the Rainy Day Trust as it faces growing pressures in a struggling charitable sector. “The Rainy Day Trust will be there for you, but only if it gets the support it needs. The charity sector is in crisis, and this organisation is the only one of its kind supporting our industry. It would be a tragedy to see it fail.”
