Busy month for Harrods cookshop

Throughout August, a selection of housewares brands will be holding events in the cookshop department of London department store Harrods.

Busy month for Harrods cookshop

The suppliers are showing how to create dishes for al fresco dining using ‘product of the month’ burrata: a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream.

Proceedings kicked off on Saturday August 2 with knife brand Kai. Chef and author Yuki Gomi created pastry and roasted dishes, showing how to get the most out of your knives. This event was followed by a presentation by Miele on Friday August 8. A team from the German brand made pizzas and desserts in its combination oven. On Saturday August 9 and Sunday August 10 KitchenAid put its mixer through its paces to create burrata tartlets.

Next in line is SMART, which will demonstrate its retro-styled Popcorn Maker on Saturday August 23. The product is designed to deliver health-conscious snacks, with its hot-air popping system eliminating the need for any oil. In these masterclasses, the corn will be served with a sprinkling of cheese.

Le Creuset will be creating sweet and savoury dishes, and using its Square Grillit to sear peaches for a burrata salad, on Friday August 29. And on Saturday August 30 and Sunday August 31, the Heston Blumenthal appliance range from Sage will be used to show how to bake tomato and olive bread. The supplier will also make fresh pesto, using the Kinetix.
