Channel 4 is looking for the Next Big Thing for new business pitch show

Britain’s inventors, makers, and licensees of products are being given the chance to sell their wares to consumers and major retail buyers in a new Channel 4 series.

Produced by Studio Lambert, the new 30-part daytime series of 30 episodes has the working title of ‘Buy It Now’ and will be presented by actor, singer, presenter and comedian Brian Conley.

Studio Lambert creative director Tim Harcourt said: “This is the country of brilliant product designers, from Sinclair and Dyson to Owen Maclaren and his collapsible buggy.

So if you have the next spiralizer, Thermos flask or even a new product that we haven’t realised we need yet, I suggest you come and put it in front of our buyers from the public and the retail world. It’s a brilliant opportunity to make big sales.”

The show will invite individual sellers to showcase their product to a studio audience of potential customers. Each seller will have 90 seconds to convince the audience to buy their product.

If the sellers are successful in selling to at least one member of the audience, they will then have the opportunity to speak to the panel of retailers – who may choose to make a big order. If not, they are spun off the revolving stage to make way for the next seller.

Channel 4 commissioning editor Tim Hancock said: “‘Buy It Now’ takes the business pitch show and spikes it with glossy entertainment values. We love how it speaks to our viewers’ love of regular people doing extraordinary things, and we can’t wait to see what the British public have been tinkering away on in their garden sheds.”

Brian Conley said: “I’m looking forward to being involved in this fantastic new show. This is a great opportunity to showcase your design idea to the country. It’s going to be lots of fun and I can’t wait to get started!”
