Charles Viancin crowns newcomer The Wooden Spoon Cookshop

The winner of Charles Viancin’s Retailer of the Month Award for August is The Wooden Spoon Cookshop at Leek in Staffordshire.

The housewares supplier introduced its six month awards programme in May, with the focus on retail customers’ social media activity.

Individual retailers are judged on how well they interact with customers online and the extent of their social media involvement.

Charles Viancin UK head of operations Peter Battersby said: “We see the value in social media and its benefits within the retail industry. We want to encourage our retailers to discover the benefits of using social media and interacting with customers online.”

Over the period, Charles Viancin’s six agents are taking it in turns to nominate a retailer in their area.

Now in its fourth month, the Charles Viancin Retailer of the Month Awards programme has crowned newcomer The Wooden Spoon Cookshop, for the Midlands area.

The enterprise, which is owned by mother and daughter partnership Lindsey and Zoe Vincent, is in only its first month of operation – but is already going from strength to strength, according to Charles Viancin sales agent Geraldine Finnan.

She said: “I’ve chosen The Wooden Spoon Cookshop as my Retailer of the Month because with no retail experience, they’ve done a great deal of research to get where they are to now. They are very active on all social media and keen to learn everything about the products they are selling.”

May’s winner, chosen by Charles Viancin sales agent Kevin Towler for the London and South East area, was Steamer Trading Cookshop of Horsham in West Sussex.

June’s winner was Harrogate cookshop Cooking Fantastic, nominated by the company’s sales agent in the north of England John Taylor.

July’s winner was The Foodhall at Gretna Green, nominated by Angela Elliot, Charles Viancin’s newly appointed sales agent covering Scotland.

With only two awards left to give in the 2016 Charles Viancin Retailer of the Month Awards, a September winner is yet to be chosen for the East Anglia area and October will see a retailer crowned for the West Country.
