The Handy Cookshop of Chesterfield has moved to a new site, more than doubling in size in the process.

Chesterfield cookshop moves and doubles space

Owner Keith Todd told HousewaresLive.net that he heard from a clothing retailer in the Derbyshire town that the unit was available, agreed to take it over, and moved all the shop’s stock in the back of the car over the course of a week.

Formerly trading in Theatre Arcade, the 20-year-old business now occupies 1,300sq ft in Knifesmithgate.

“I’m in a better position now,” said Todd, “with more passing trade, and the space is two and a half times what we had before.”

He added that the shop is looking to take on more giftware and cookware. “And we’re going to have a tea room, and we might do a few jams and preserves in there.” He said he hoped the tea room would be up and running this year.
