Over 90% of exhibition space is already booked for Tendence, according to organiser Messe Frankfurt.
The event, which will be held from August 24-28 in Frankfurt, is described as the most important international consumer goods trade fair in the second half of the year for the home and gift sectors, enabling targeted ordering for the autumn, winter and Christmas seasons with an eye on spring and summer 2013.
Tendence is the sister show to Ambiente, which is billed as the world’s leading consumer goods fair. Also held in Frankfurt, it next takes place from 15-19 February 2013.
Tendence & Ambiente vice-president Nicolette Naumann reported a strong level of interest from the UK in Tendence 2012. She noted a 35% increase in UK exhibitors compared with Tendence 2011. The trend is similar for visitors, she said, pointing out that last year’s show enjoyed a 40% rise in visitors from the UK compared with 2010. “Great Britain is in our top 10 of visitor numbers,” she said.
Last year’s show attracted a total of 52,000 trade visitors from more than 100 countries, who checked out the wares of more than 2,000 exhibitors from 66 countries. Products were showcased in two main sections – Giving (giftware, jewellery, stationery, arts & crafts) and Living (furniture, homeware and furnishing accessories) – that occupied the entire western section of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre: 130,000sq m of space across nine halls.
‘Time for business – time for trends,’ is the motto for this year’s Tendence. Highlights include window dressing demonstrations in co-operation with the European Visual Marketing Merchandising Association (VMM) and awards ceremonies for young designers, start-up companies and innovative products.
