After a successful first few days’ trading in England, Debenhams will reopen its eight stores in Wales on Tuesday 23 June as trading restrictions are eased.
The revised guidance from the Scottish Government means that Debenhams will be able to open six of its Scottish stores on Monday 29 June. The remaining stores in Scotland will not be able to open before July while restrictions on shopping centres remain in place.
Steven Cook, managing director, Debenhams, said: “After 10 days of trading in Northern Ireland and England, demand has been above plan, particularly for beauty, kidswear and summer fashion, and we have not seen any cannibalisation of our online performance.
“We look forward to welcoming Welsh and Scottish customers back to our stores in the coming weeks in the confidence that our customers and colleagues are finding our extra safety precautions reassuring without impeding their comfort or convenience.”
