Eddingtons has announced today that it is acquiring cookware company Beka UK.

Eddingtons expands cookware offer with Beka UK acquisition

Beka was founded in Germany in 1899, and Belgian-based parent Allinox is now one of the world’s largest producers of stainless steel cookware.

The company’s product portfolio also includes many specialist items such as tagines, bain maries, stone grills, fondues and a fruit juice steamer.

Ian Findlay, Beka UK managing director, told HousewaresLive.net: “We’re delighted to hand over the torch to Eddingtons in the UK and Ireland. The takeover is ideal because we’ve taken the company as far as I think we can. Eddingtons are going to really help grow the brand, and it’s an excellent alternative to the big brands.”

He added that he and sales director Marcus Findley would be working closely with Eddingtons during the handover.

Eddingtons will take over distribution of the Beka range on January 1 2009, with Beka UK remaining the contact until then.

Findlay said that he and Marcus had “plenty of plans” for the future: “Marcus handles the Nordicware products, and we’ve got a lot of things that will come out at a later date.”

Eddingtons managing director Brian Rogers commented: “Ian and Marcus have done a fantastic job over the past few years introducing the brand.” He added that the Beka range filled a gap in the company’s portfolio.
