Fragrant Knives, the passion project of chef and food anthropologist Sean Warmington-Wan, is set to launch in the UK on 9 September 2025 with the introduction of its flagship product: the Chinese Chef’s Knife.

This debut signals a new chapter in the evolution of premium, everyday kitchen tools. For the past decade, Japanese knives have earned a permanent place in UK kitchens, celebrated for their sharpness, heritage, and craftsmanship. Yet the Chinese knife—an equally versatile and beautifully made staple in homes and restaurants across Hong Kong and southern China—has remained largely overlooked in the West. Fragrant Knives is here to change that.

The brand’s first release is a modern interpretation of the classic Chinese vegetable knife (菜刀, cai dao)—a true all-rounder. Designed to chop, slice, mince, smash, scrape, and glide seamlessly from prep to plating, it offers home cooks and professionals alike a tool that balances heritage with contemporary design.
