The Naval Service culinary arts team and catering services personnel of the Royal Navy will be competing against its counterparts from the Army and RAF through a series of cooking challenges where the teams will be given different dishes to cook.

The competition is a series of live, static and field challenge events designed to test the skills of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary chefs and stewards. Each team was chosen as the best of their field by a field cookery competition that took place earlier in the year.

For the Royal Navy, the field cookery winner was decided in the summer, when eight teams from the regiment battled it out to become the best chef in their field by producing two dishes, a main and a dessert from only 10 man rations. The Stonehouse Barracks-based 30 Commando team came out top.

Global Knives UK brand manager Sophie Newton said: “We’re proud to be supporting the Royal Navy in these competitions and it will be a very exciting event next month. Having sponsored them previously, and seeing the high standard of cooking that was done, I’m looking forward to seeing them battle it out against the Army and RAF. Good look to all of the teams involved!”

The Exercise Joint Caterer finals start on October 14, and the ultimate winner will be decided on October 16.
