Jeff Moody, formerly sales and marketing director at Polti Group, is joining the British Independent Retailers Association (bira) as managing director designate of bira direct on October 6.
Bira direct uses the combined purchasing power of over 7,000 bira members to negotiate better buying terms for the independent retail members of bira across the UK.
Jeff’s Jeff’s career includes three years as sales and marketing director of Haier UK and Ireland and two years as managing director of BDC. His appointment follows on from the recent announcement of the planned retirement, after 47 years in the DIY and housewares markets, of current managing director Paul Woolley.
Paul Woolley commented: “Jeff Moody will bring to bira all the necessary management and retail skills to ensure the continued growth of bira direct. I have previously worked with Jeff when he was instrumental in growing the BDC business substantially as a bira direct supplier, and I know that he will do an excellent job.”
Meanwhile, Steve Akers is to be promoted to director of buying for bira direct from October 6. Paul Woolley said: “Steve joined bira direct as buyer in 2010, and his promotion is a just reward for the hard work he has contributed in helping both suppliers and retail members grow and develop their businesses in that time. His experience and knowledge will be invaluable in the future as bira direct looks to build on a very positive 2014.”
