Joseph Joseph wins top prize in Red Dot Award 2015

The Red Dot: Best of the Best is the highest individual award given in the Red Dot Award: Product Design category. In 2015, just 81 products from 31 categories (representing 1.6% of all entries from 4,928 participants) were given this sought-after seal of quality by the 38-member jury.

Totem is the first product to be launched in the new Intelligent Waste range, created by Joseph Joseph. It was designed in collaboration with design studio Pearson Lloyd as a highly-flexible waste separation unit, ‘occupying the same space as a conventional kitchen bin, but offering many more functions without compromising on capacity’.

The Red Dot Design Award breaks down into the three categories of Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. It was created by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and with around 17,000 entries each year, is one of the best-respected design competitions in the world.

Award-winners use the Red Dot winner label and receive other privileges, such as the presentation of the award-winning product on Red Dot Online, in the Red Dot Design Yearbook, the Red Dot App and on Red Dot 21. Additionally, the winning products are promoted in the international PR activities of Red Dot and exhibited in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen for a whole year.
