Kelly Hoppen joins ‘The Great Interior Design Challenge’

BBC Two has recommissioned ‘The Great Interior Design Challenge’ for a fourth series as it moves to a primetime slot, with Kelly Hoppen MBE joining as judge.

Due for transmission in 2017 in a new 8pm timeslot, the series is an annual interior design competition which aims to find Britain’s best amateur interior designer.

Interior designer, product designer and author Kelly Hoppen MBE will join Daniel Hopwood, director of the British Institute of Interior Design, to judge the nine contestants who, across the nine-part, hour-long series, will battle it out to win the coveted title.

Kelly and Daniel will be joined by guest judges over the course of the competition including ‘Elle Decoration UK’ editor-in-chief Michelle Ogundehin and interior stylist Sophie Robinson. Architectural historian Tom Dyckhoff will once again take the helm as presenter.

The show was commissioned by executive producer, formats and features, Catherine Catton. She said: “‘The Great Interior Design Challenge’ is incredibly popular with BBC Two viewers and we wanted to give more people the chance to watch the series.

“Moving it to the 8pm timeslot will allow more viewers to enjoy the creative delights of our contestants, as well as the inspiring design knowledge and eye of our new judge Kelly, and the expertise and flair of Daniel and Tom.

She added: “Kelly is a great addition to the judging team with her wealth of design knowledge and skill; testament to the accolades she has received over her 40 years in the industry. Kelly combined with Daniel and led by Tom are a design force to be reckoned with!”

Kelly commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be the new judge on BBC Two’s ‘The Great Interior Design Challenge’. Having been an interior designer for 40 years, I’m very excited to share my expertise and passion. I’m looking forward to finding Britain’s best amateur interior designers and to championing their talent.”
