The trend for column-cum-tables in the kitchen fell out of favour in recent years but is being championed once again by independent and national chain retailers, according to Wilsonart UK.
Ruby Kiernan, marketing communication manager for Wilsonart UK, which is part of the world’s largest manufacturer of laminate surfaces, said: “Our research and experience highlights an increase in the specification of multi-purpose kitchen islands. We are seeing a growing number displayed in showrooms and at kitchen exhibitions.
“People are looking to stamp their own identity on their kitchens with a pivotal, elegant installation where they can incorporate the mixed-material effect but also provide a multi-functional space to eat, work, socialise and chill out.”
