Lakeland prepares to launch contactless payment

The kitchenware and home solutions retailer says that customers will be able to choose this way to pay in all of its 57 stores from the end of June.

Contactless payment allows purchasers of items under £15 to pay by simply swiping their credit or debit card across a reader, thus saving time for both customer and retailer.

Lakeland is introducing the technology in partnership with Barclaycard and Visa Europe.

Said Lakeland director of operations Gary Marshall: “We have strong values of quality and customer care. As a result we’re committed to meeting our customers’ needs, from the items in our range to payments at the till.”
