Ray Taylor – the second member of the three-strong team that led a management buyout of the company in 2008 – has also gone. The third, Steve Gallagher, has been retained as commercial director by Eamonn Swift, who has been appointed managing director with immediate effect.

Swift came on board at the beleaguered wholesaler when he invested £2.5m in the company in 2009.

Speaking to HousewaresLive.net’s sister site diyweek.net, he said: “It was all very amicable. We need to consolidate our position and we need to improve our reputation. The way we do that is purely through customer service. And, I need individuals here who give me the greatest opportunity to hit those goals and aspirations.”

Swift has also retained the services of sales director Eddie Seymour and has brought Colin Drake back into the BDC buying team.
