Matalan is set to open its first store in Clacton this November, bringing its fashion and homeware collections to the Essex town as part of its ongoing investment in new stores.
The new 30,000 sq ft store, located at Brooke Retail Park, will stock the retailer’s full range of womenswear, menswear, childrenswear and homeware, including its latest Autumn/Winter collections.
The opening is one of several planned by Matalan before the end of 2026, as the retailer continues to expand and modernise its store estate across the UK.
Customers visiting the Clacton store will find a bright, contemporary shopping environment, with improved layouts and visual merchandising designed to make browsing the retailer’s ranges easier.
Matalan said its latest collections place greater emphasis on fabric, quality, fit and design, while maintaining the affordable prices for which the business is known.
The new store has been developed in collaboration with Tendring District Council and Britton Construction Ltd, with more than 30 local people recruited to join the team.

The investment comes as Matalan continues to refresh its retail offering, with improvements to its products, stores and shopping experience forming part of its wider transformation.
Once open, the Clacton store will trade from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
