Design and innovation in focus at Ambiente

The Kitchen Innovation of the Year award is just one of a host of special presentations, programmes and events being laid on at next month’s Ambiente fair in Frankfurt.

Design and innovation in focus at Ambiente

The annual accolade covers the categories of Cooking and Kitchen Equipment, Kitchen Accessories, Small and Large Electrical Appliances and Kitchen Fittings and Apparatus, with the winning products being voted for by the public. The display can be seen in the foyer of Halls 5.1/6.1.

And Galleria 1 will play host to another more general award, Design Plus, now in its 30th year. This award is presented by an international jury on points of design, usability and materials used.

New ideas will be the theme of Solutions in the foyer of Hall 4.0, which will focus on innovations from exhibitors within tableware, kitchenware and household goods. London product designer Sebastian Bergne will curate the show, which had its premiere at Ambiente 2012.

Visitors will also be given a preview of 2013 trends, in Galleria 1, the display providing pointers to the new colours, forms, designs and materials that the future has in store. Designers will be talking about the trends and there will also be guided tours of the show.

Amongst other attractions at Ambiente will be Talents in Hall 4.0, 11.0, which gives next-generation designers an opportunity to present their work to an international audience; and La France Un Art de Vivre in the foyer of Hall 4.1, a project from this year’s partner country. French designer Olivia Putnam is ambassador for the project and curator of the presentation, which will illustrate the French art of living.

Ambiente will take place at Messe Frankfurt from February 15 to 19 2013, hosting 4,500 exhibitors within 27 exhibition halls.
