Nigella storms best sellers book chart

Celebrity cook Nigella Lawson’s new TV series ‘Simply Nigella’ will air on BBC Two on Monday November 2 at 8.30pm to 9pm.

A tie-in cookbook to the six-part series was published on October 8 and has already entered the best sellers book chart.

‘Simply Nigella: Feel Good Food’ is at number seven in ‘The Mail On Sunday’ UK list of non-fiction hardback best sellers. It aims to ‘tap into the rhythms of our cooking lives, with recipes that are uncomplicated, relaxed and yet always satisfying’.

From ‘quick and calm suppers’ (miso salmon, cauliflower & cashew nut curry) to stress-free ideas when catering for a crowd (chicken traybake with bitter orange & fennel), or bowl food for cosy nights on the sofa (Thai noodles with cinnamon and prawns), the food is ‘guaranteed to make everyone feel good’.

‘Everyday Super Food’ by TV chef Jamie Oliver also appears in the top 10, at number three. This book aims to ‘make eating well exciting, delicious, easy and fun’. It is divided into breakfasts (up to 400 calories), lunches (up to 600 calories) and dinners (up to 600 calories), and every meal is nutritionally balanced so that any combination over the day will bring you in under your recommended daily allowance of calories (2,000 for women/2,500 for men), allowing you to enjoy snacks and drinks on the side. Examples include smoothie pancakes with berries, banana, yoghurt and nuts for breakfast; fish tacos with kiwi, lime and chilli salsa for lunch; and griddled steak and peppers with Tabbouleh rice for dinner.

The book chart is compiled by Nielsen Bookscan TCM, which collates real time sales from over 6,500 retailers representing over 90% of the UK book market. It was published in The Mail on Sunday’s Event Magazine  on October 11.
