Belfast shoppers have a new destination for stylish and affordable homeware as Primark opens its first-ever standalone Primark Home store today, March 6. Located in Fountain House on Donegall Place, the new retail concept represents a £2 million investment in the city centre and has created 43 new jobs, bringing Primark’s Belfast workforce to over 400 and more than 1,300 across Northern Ireland.
The grand opening was attended by representatives from Belfast City Council, Belfast One, and the Belfast Chamber of Commerce. Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Micky Murray, officially opened the store with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating its positive impact on the local economy.
“This is a fantastic addition to our city centre,” said Cllr Murray. “Not only does it offer more choice for shoppers, but it also provides an important economic boost by creating jobs and attracting more visitors.”
The standalone Primark Home store arrives at a time when demand for homeware is booming. The retailer has seen a surge in popularity for its home collection, with items like cotton bedding and unique kitchen ceramics flying off the shelves. Seasonal home décor, including Easter wreaths and large-scale decorations, has also gained traction, reflecting a growing trend among customers.
Fintan Costello, Head of Primark Ireland and Northern Ireland, expressed excitement about the store’s launch: “Belfast has embraced Primark, especially since the reopening of our Bank Buildings store. The launch of Primark Home not only responds to customer demand but also reinforces our commitment to investing in this city.”
To mark the occasion, Primark has introduced an exclusive homeware collection inspired by Pinterest trends. Shoppers can explore everything from spring floral crockery to luxurious 500-thread count bedding, plush towels, and refined ceramic tableware. Additionally, Belfast customers will have early access to The Primark Home Edit, a premium homeware collection, four weeks before its nationwide release.
