The mills were designed in-house by Paul deBretton Gordon and have already won a Good Design 2011 award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the 2011 PH/CHA Excellence in Housewares Top Tool or Gadget award.

“The Red Dot awards are one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world and are an acknowledgment of high design quality,” said the company’s managing director Rupert Welch.

“Competition is always very tough, and winning demonstrates that a small, family-run British company can compete with the large multi-national companies. We’re proud to be flying the flag for British design.”

The Red Dot jury, consisting of 30 internationally-renowned design experts, examined and tested the products and assessed them according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, longevity, ecological compatibility and clarity of function. In total 4,515 products from 58 countries were judged this year.

The award-winning products are exhibited in the Red Dot design museum in Essen, Germany.
