Relocation for Herne Bay cookshop

Herne Bay cookshop The Orange Tree has relocated to new premises in the Kent town.
Owner Sandra Clark told HousewaresLive.net that the move – the cookshop’s fourth – was necessitated when the landlord refused to renew the lease on the store’s former premises in William Street.

However, the enforced relocation – to a freehold site in the high street – has turned out to be a positive benefit to the 12-year-old business.

“The shop is about the same size as the other shop but it’s much more open and airy,” Clark explained.

“I think, before, we were trying to cram as much stock and shelving as possible into the space we had, and it was very claustrophobic. Now, the whole front section is more open and we’ve just opened a new extension at the back

“We’re giving people more space to move around, and they’re spending more time in the shop.”

The Lord and Lady Mayoress of Canterbury attended the launch of the new shop earlier this month.
