“I’m very pleased to say that I managed to complete the course in one piece and have almost recovered! The weather was very kind on the day and in a weird kind of way, I enjoyed it. In fact I am considering having another go next year,” he told www.HousewaresLive.net.

The Triathlon was just one of many sporting events held over a two-week period in July as part of the 126th Wenlock Olympian Games, the first of which took place in 1850 and were the inspiration for the modern Olympic Games (www.wenlock-olympian-society.org.uk);

Having set a target of of raising £500 for the Epilepsy Society, to date Richard’s Justgiving page has received £521, with several more donations expected over the coming days. The Epilepsy Society is a charity very close to Richard’s heart as his son was diagnosed with epilepsy a few years ago. “Fortunately, our son’s condition is currently very well controlled but many are not so fortunate,” Richard said.

His Justgiving page stays open for another three months. Donations can be made online by visiting www.justgiving.com/richard-gilbert0
