The #SaveDenby campaign has gained significant traction across social media and the wider public, as the housewares industry rallies behind one of Britain’s most recognisable ceramics brands.
The Derbyshire-based manufacturer, founded in 1809, confirmed it filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators on 11 March 2026 following sustained financial pressures. Reduced consumer demand, rising employment costs and soaring industrial energy prices have all contributed to the situation. While the business continues to trade, it is seeking new investment or restructuring, warning that without support it could face closure.
The message has quickly spread nationwide, with consumers, retailers and industry figures sharing the campaign and voicing support for the brand.
Describing the situation as a “critical moment”, Denby pointed to its 200-year heritage, with generations of craftspeople producing ceramics on the same Derbyshire site. The company is urging supporters to share the campaign, purchase products, visit its stores and engage with MPs, with a petition expected to follow.
At the heart of the campaign is over 500 jobs, specialist skills and a piece of British manufacturing heritage are at risk.
Housewares Magazine is in full support of the #SaveDenby campaign. Protecting businesses like Denby is about safeguarding the craft, creativity and skilled artistry that define the UK’s home and housewares sector.
