The organisers of the Cake Awards have revealed details of the 20 cakes that have been selected for the inaugural Cake Awards shortlist.

The Cake Awards celebrate the very best British cakes and are the only awards dedicated to recognising excellence in cake. They are a unique opportunity for large and small businesses to showcase their best products to the most respected figures in the industry including some of the UK’s leading chefs, bakers and experts in the food industry.
Judges including Lakeland’s Customer Ambassador Wendy Miranda; Bruce Langlands, Director of Food at Harrods; David Swann, Quality & Innovation chef at Marks & Spencer; Will Torrent, award- winning pâtissier and chocolatier; Eric Lanlard, Master Pâtissier; Loic Carbonnet, Head Pastry Chef at the Lanesborough; and Allan Jenkins, Editor of ‘Observer Food Monthly’.
They put each product through a rigorous judging process to decide the shortlist and winners based on a strict criteria of excellent presentation, quality ingredients, recipe innovation, texture, taste and value.
Jane Milton, co-founder of the Cake Awards, said: “It’s great to see the shortlist feature such a broad range of sources, from Michelin star holders to small bakers and many of the multiple retailers too.
