Sofology teams up with Owen Wilson for TV ad campaign sequel

Sofa retailer Sofology has joined forces with Hollywood actor Owen Wilson again for the second instalment of its TV advertising campaign.

Aimed at ‘instilling the importance of feeling happy, comfortable and at home on a sofa you love’, the ads capture Wilson, star of films ‘Marley & Me’ and ‘Wedding Crashers, relaxing in a mixture of settings.

Depicting Owen in an LA-esque home, the adverts first draw on the star and a canine companion reclining on Sofology’s new launch Odessy leather sofa, whilst the actor muses about being way too comfortable to go surfing. Featuring a wooden surfboard mounted onto the wall, the ad draws parallels between the traditional carpentry and modern technology used in both sofa and surfboard manufacturing, visually comparing the contemporary clean lines of both.

Jan Duckworth, head of marketing at Sofology, said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with Owen again. He’s the perfect fit for us, as he lives and breathes relaxation – he’s the King of Chill! This time around, we have directed more emphasis on the features of Sofology’s products, perfectly summarised by Owen who effortlessly translates the significance of feeling at home on a sofa you love.”

Airing on ITV on Wednesday August 21 at 19:45, the TV ad will also premiere on Sofology’s digital channels followed by a series of exclusive social videos.

Founded in north-west England in 1974, Sofology now spans the UK with 42 stores and more than 1,000 employees across retail, delivery and head office. The company recently opened a store in Plymouth, with plans to open more than 20 new stores over the next five years. Five new stores are set to open by May 2020 in locations including Belfast, Peterborough and Cheltenham.
