Cookshop chain Steamer Trading has revealed that its entry into the world of ecommerce with a full-offer website is to take place in under three months’ time.

The retailer, which has 26 stores with plans to grow to 50 by the end of 2016, has been slow to embrace online trading. However, it has now employed leading digital agencies to create a site that aims to be the definitive source of kitchenware on the internet and offering Steamer’s entire range of over 10,000 products.
www.steamer.co.uk is set to go live in the middle of August.
One of the agencies working on the site is award-winning search marketing specialist Propellernet, whose other clients include retailers Marks & Spencer, Furniture Village, Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City. It promises to improve natural search visibility for Steamer for relevant keywords within Google and so increase revenue.
The website’s design is by True Digital, which boasts extensive multi-channel retail expertise and which aims to deliver a customer-focused shopping experience, and the site will be powered by Blubolt’s flagship ecommerce platform, BluCommerce.
Said Steamer managing director Ben Phillips: “We believe that we can now create a true multichannel approach that will allow us to offer the same experience online that we strive to create within the unique environment of our shops.”
He added that the site would be “something really special that reflects the values of our brand”.
