Steamer’s newest branch now top-performing store

The latest Steamer Trading store has fast become the jewel in the crown of the award-winning cookshop chain.

Steamer's newest branch now top-performing store

The Lewes, East Sussex-based company, which picked up two awards in the recent Global Innovator Awards in Chicago, opened its new Guildford shop in late November last year. With 5,500sq ft of retail space, it is now Steamer’s flagship branch – the largest in the retailer’s 21-store portfolio and with the widest range of merchandise.

And, managing director Ben Phillips told HousewaresLive.net: “It’s been our top-performing store every week since opening.”

The high street store replaces the original Guildford branch, which had just 1,200sq ft of space, and covers three floors in a striking contemporary building. Features include glass floors and a roof terrace, and there is also a cafe.

Steamer Trading ultimately wants to have 30 stores, and plans to open four more this year. But Phillips will give no details as to where they might be, other than: “They’ll all be north of Lewes!”
