Strix Launches Crowdfunder for Kettle Innovation

Strix, the global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of kettle safety controls, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for its LAICA brand, offering retailers exclusive perks and early access to its award-winning, world first innovation.

Visione, by LAICA, is the first cordless, auto-switch off induction hob top kettle to be developed and the prototype has already been awarded the German Design Award and Red Dot Design Award 2022.

Featuring patented technology, with further patents pending, Strix engineers have developed the only induction hob top kettle that is intuitive, safe and functional, matched with an eye-catching aesthetic designed to reflect the brand’s Italian heritage.

Powered by Strix, Visione’s world-first, intelligent auto stop technology automatically switches off at boil and has integrated boil dry protection making it the safest kettle of its kind.

Set to go live in June, the fundraiser, which will be hosted by Indiegogo, allows investors to get early bird access to the product with discounts of up to 50% on MRRP for potential retailers, plus exclusive perks. Parent company, Strix, anticipates putting the product into production this year.

Visione’s patented Dry Shut Off (DSO) mechanism ensures the plate on the product lifts automatically if the induction kettle is placed on the hob but with no water in it. A thermal sensor next to the plate senses the excess temperature and automatically triggers the same mechanism that lifts the plate when the water boils.

In addition to the induction kettle turning off automatically when the water boils by lifting the plate, it is also possible for the user to manually interrupt the boiling cycle and cause the mechanism to lift the plate as well.

The Visione is also easy to fill, featuring an innovative 360-degree funnel fill lid which allows water to be simply dispensed from a tap into the lid without removing it. A one-way valve allows the water to drain into the kettle body but does not allow steam to escape.

With the global induction hobs market value expected to increase by €3.41bn between 2021 and 2025*, LAICA believes that induction compatible appliances and accessories will represent a growing area and a revenue opportunity for retailers.

Harry Kyriacou, Chief Commercial Officer, of parent company Strix, said: “Visione is a genuine innovation and one which our design and development team has worked very hard on. Induction is a growing sector, and we believe we’ve designed a product which allows users to boil water on their induction hob in the safest way possible. We are immensely proud that Visione has already been acknowledged by two of the most prestigious awards, receiving a special mention for “excellent product design.” We believe this product offers something new and innovative in this growing sector. We would encourage interested retailers to get in touch for access to exclusive perks.”
