Strong week of sales for Cookshop and Tabletop at John Lewis

Total sales for John Lewis & Partners last week (to Saturday January 5) were up 11.2% on last year, in what was the first full week of Clearance.

The department store group’s director of merchandising operations Jon Williams said: “Home sales were up 1.7%. Gifts, Cook and Dine continued to perform well with sales up 11.3%. Cookshop and Tabletop also had strong sales driven by standout Special Buy lines.”

He added: “Electrical and Home Technology sales were up 11.7%. Communications technology products had a very strong week with sales up 35.2% and television sales were up 14%.

“Fashion sales were up 20.4%. Menswear had the biggest increase on last year with sales up 34.3% on last year. Womenswear and women’s accessories were also up, by 19.7% and 24.3% respectively.”
