Supor ‘health-risk’ cookware not sold in UK

Groupe SEB, which is fighting allegations that some of its Supor cookware is unsafe, has now confirmed to HousewaresLive.net that the products concerned are not sold in the UK.
HousewaresLive.net reported yesterday on the row that has broken out over the stainless steel cookware following claims on Chinese television that it contains too much manganese, which can be harmful to health.

Groupe SEB, which owns a majority stake in the Chinese Supor company, said in a statement that it “vigorously protests the allegations” and “always complies with the most demanding standards in all its global operations”.

Today, in response to a request from HousewaresLive.net, a spokesman for the company issued this further statement:

“I can confirm that no Supor products are sold in the UK. I can also confirm that there are no health risks associated with Supor stainless steel ranges.”
