Tesco appoints two non-exec directors

Tesco has announced that Alison Platt and Simon Patterson will join the board of the supermarket chain as additional independent non-executive directors from April 1.

Alison Platt is the chief executive of property services group Countrywide. She was previously managing director at Bupa, responsible for international development markets, and has held a range of senior posts in British Airways.

Simon Patterson is a managing director of global technology investment firm Silver Lake Partners. Prior to joining Silver Lake, he was a member of the founding management team of the logistics software company GF-X (which was acquired by Descartes) and worked in various management roles at the Financial Times. He is a trustee of the Natural History Museum in London, a non-executive director of N Brown Group and a member of the advisory board of the Prince’s Trust.

Tesco chairman John Allan said: “I’m delighted to welcome Alison and Simon to the board and I know that their broad range of skills and experience will be a real asset to the company. The board and I very much look forward to working with them over the coming years.”
