The General Trading Company has been bought by the management of former London homewares retailer Mortimers.
The General Trading Company went into administration in July but began trading under its new owners yesterday. The store is set for a relaunch in the autumn.
The deal includes the acquisition of certain General Trading Company assets from administrators MCR, and 19 jobs have been saved.
Mortimers’ store was in Neal Street in London’s Covent Garden selling up-market gifts and homewares. It closed in 1997.
The store will put the emphasis British designers and British-made products.
