Much-loved Llandudno kitchenware store The Kitchen Range has reopened (July 2), marking a welcome return to the high street following its closure earlier this year.
The independent retailer, which first opened in 1983, closed its doors on March 8 after 42 years of trading, with Founder Robin Whitehead retiring from the business. At the time, former Store Manager Janet Gordon assured customers the closure was “nothing to do with trade”, and that a return in some form was hoped for.

Now, just four months later, that promise is being realised. The Kitchen Range has opened in a new location at 105 Mostyn Street – the former site of the Sweet Emporium – on Tuesday 2 July. The unit became available earlier this month when the sweet shop relocated to the nearby Victoria Centre.
The store will be managed by Janet Gordon, who brings decades of experience and a deep connection with the business. She confirmed that while the new Kitchen Range will have a refreshed look, it will stay true to its roots – offering the knowledgeable, personal service that helped it build a loyal following among locals and visitors alike.
“I cannot put into words how thrilled I am to be given the opportunity to manage the new Kitchen Range,” commented Ms Gordon. “It was, and still is, a unique cook shop, providing customers with an informative and friendly shopping experience. We’re proud to continue those values and will continue to offer a bespoke ordering service for customers looking for the perfect finishing touch or a hard-to-find item.”
The business has also embraced a more modern approach, launching a dedicated website, joining social media platforms, and introducing an email contact option to ensure smooth, up-to-date communication with its growing customer base.
Michelle Colins, of long-standing supplier Lifetime Brands, welcomed the relaunch, said: “This beloved local business is set to once again become a hub for culinary enthusiasts and a vital part of the community. As the only dedicated kitchenware shop in the area, its return is a fantastic boost for Llandudno. We’re proud to support The Kitchen Range as it embarks on this exciting new chapter.”
