Three influential and well-known retail experts are on the programme for next month’s BIRA National Conference and Awards.
BIRA says that the event, being held in Birmingham on April 24 and entitled Talking Independent Retail, will be one of the most exciting and full events the association has ever put on.
The speakers, retail champion Clare Rayner, Matthew Hopkinson of Local Data Company and Hilary Cookson of Maureen Cookson, will join BIRA directors and members to discuss the issues concerning and shaping the independent retail industry.
The day will comprise the BIRA AGM, conference, networking lunch and the Gala Awards Dinner at Birmingham Town Hall, featuring BIRA Young Retailer of the Year Awards, BIRA direct Supplier Awards and BIRA Community Awards, all hosted by comedian John Moloney.
BIRA CEO Alan Hawkins said: “We have secured some of the top names in independent retail to present at this year’s national conference, and it promises to be an incredible opportunity for suppliers and retailers to find out more about BIRA, meet and talk to people on the other side of the fence, as it were, and discuss the burning topics affecting all of our businesses.

John Moloney is one of the most sought-after comedians and hosts in the country and, with some special entertainment, it promises to be an evening that will round off the day perfectly.”
