Waitrose opens new shop in Dubai

Waitrose launched a new convenience shop in Dubai last Thursday (October 12), as part of its partnership with Fine Fare Food Market LLC.

The supermarket chain’s 4,900sq ft store is in the new Dar Wasl shopping centre, which is in a busy residential area, and is designed to provide a top-up shopping offer for both expats and local Emirati customers.

The shop offers a wide range of products including fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh meat, bakery, delicatessen, frozen and non-food lines. Several lines from the essential Waitrose and Waitrose 1 ranges will be available including fresh British milk, cheese, yogurts, pasta, pasta sauces and confectionery.

FFFM will run the shop’s daily operation, supported by Waitrose in the UK. Barry Delehanty, head of B2B growth & development at Waitrose, said: “We’re seeing ever increasing demand for Waitrose products from global audiences – either from Brits who have moved abroad, or from those who have heard about our products.

“Our quality and provenance really appeals to the international market and we’re proud that our brand continues to retain the trust of customers wherever they are in the world.”

The shop is Waitrose’s fourth in Dubai and its ninth in total in the United Arab Emirates. The other five are located in Abu Dhabi – of which three are also convenience stores.

Waitrose has 352 shops in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands, including 66 convenience branches, and another 27 shops at Welcome Break locations. It also exports products to 53 countries worldwide.
