Another Christmas helping from Heston

Waitrose has unwrapped details of a second 2015 Christmas dessert, created in partnership with six Michelin-starred chef Heston Blumenthal.

The latest sweet creation from Heston is the frozen Heston from Waitrose Lemon Meringue Bar. It features all the flavours of a traditional lemon meringue, with a creamy texture and a crispy meringue bottom. Heston said: “My take on the classic lemon meringue, which is usually a summer dessert, is a combination of lemon sorbet, meringue and marshmallow: tantalisingly cold, sharp, soft and crunchy all at once.”

The Bar joins The Chocolate Bucks Fizz Swirl, as featured with Heston in the supermarket chain’s Christmas TV advert. This is a Marc de Champagne-flavoured chocolate mousse which features a signature Heston ingredient – crackling Popping Candy – which has been mixed with dark caramel and chocolate to form the base. This dessert has an orange compote centre and is sprinkled with gold coloured dust. Both products arrived in branches across the UK last week.

Manisha Kotecha, Heston from Waitrose product developer, commented: “It’s always exciting when we launch a new Heston product and this time is no exception. The two new desserts are exactly what you’d expect from Heston – traditional with a twist of something magical – and we think they will go down a storm this festive season.”
