B & Q looks to Autumn/Winter

B&Q has unveiled a snapshot of its key focuses for Autumn/Winter homes.

Boiler MOTs, colour block paint mixing, the Little Black Kitchen and ‘Great Gatsby’ inspired Christmas decorations will all play a role in the Autumn/Winter offer from the national DIY retailer.

For the first time ever, B&Q will launch a new boiler repair service as it claims, one in 10 of us admit to having a faulty boiler and almost 70% do not carry out an annual home MOT (when we would not dream of driving our cars without one). Heightened fears about continuing rising energy bills means that homeowners are keen to do everything they can to ensure their homes are more energy-efficient.

As colour blocking has been big on the catwalk this summer, colour is coming through boldly as Brits look to put their personalised stamps on the walls of their homes.

This year, B&Q launches a global partnership with US group Valspar to roll out a new paint mixing concept in all stores by the end of the year which allows customers to paint match virtually anything.

Continuing with the catwalk theme, the ‘little black kitchen’ has emerged. Launching this autumn, B&Q is expecting the IT High Gloss Black to be a hit for those wanting ‘a classic kitchen that will forever be in style’. Meanwhile, inspired by film and fashion, this year’s Christmas trees will decked out with ‘Great Gatsby inspired decorations.

Finally, B&Q is the first UK national retailer to snap up Sugru: a flexible, mouldable silicon resin which can fix, stick and glue ‘almost anything in the home’.

B&Q CEO UK & Ireland Martyn Phillips said: “As the nation ‘stays put’ even longer in their homes, we’re committed to helping them love their homes even more. Whether it’s the latest on-trend little black kitchen, ‘Great Gatsby’ inspired Christmas decs or the need to ensure your home is as energy-efficient as possible due to rising energy bills, B&Q is helping Britain to make their homes better, which in turn improves quality of life.”
