BHETA to host Meet The Buyer event with John Lewis

BHETA is to hold a Meet The Buyer event with the John Lewis Partnership on Wednesday 17th May, at the Hilton Watford, Elton Way, Watford.  JLP’s overall objective is to meet new suppliers, see innovative brands, and be shown sustainable materials and eco stories.  In particular, buyers want to meet Cookshop and Utility suppliers in the following categories:

  • Kitchenware collections – Giftable opportunities.
  • Picnicware
  • Back to school
  • Christmas Seasonal
  • Barware
  • Utensils
  • Tea & Coffee
  • Kitchen storage
  • Wine racks
  • Food prep & gadgets
  • Bathroom accessories, towels, robes & bathmats
  • Utility Storage and Kitchen bins
  • Laundry, utility & cleaning

Buyers representing the product categories listed above will be in attendance. Each supplier can bring two people and will be allocated a 20-minute appointment with their relevant buyer.  Suppliers can book additional appointments if they have products relevant for other categories.

John Lewis will give preference to suppliers who come prepared with a range of products rather than just single items and any new supplier would need to generate enough turnover to warrant delisting a current supplier given the retailers one in one out policy.  All new suppliers will also be required to sign up to a contractual agreement consisting of a turnover rebate, payment terms, marketing rebate as a percentage of turnover.

John Lewis & Partners began trading over 150 years ago in 1864 on London’s Oxford Street and is a leading omni-channel retailer in the UK with 34 John Lewis shops and a growing online business –

The closing date for applications is 10th May and payment by non-members must be received no later than 11th May.  Costs of participation in the BHETA JLP Meet The Buyer event are as follows:
Member rate:  £89.00+VAT
Non-member rate:  £179.00+VAT, for a first BHETA Meet the Buyer event
Non-member rate:  £249.00+VAT, for suppliers who have already attended a prior BHETA Meet the Buyer event

BHETA’s Housewares Sector Manager, Seema Grantham commented, “The chance to pitch directly to John Lewis is obviously a great opportunity and we are expecting an excellent turn-out, so do book early.”
