Chicago show enjoys retailer record

The International Housewares Association says that attendance at this month’s International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago set a new record, with retailer registration up 6.5%.
Total registration was over 61,700, including more than 23,000 buyers. The show also featured more than 2,000 exhibitors from 34 countries, with over 400 of the exhibitors new to the show.

“We’re pleased to report these outstanding results,” said IHA president Phil Brandl. “In contrast to other economic news, we were pleased to see the optimism and energy among show exhibitors and attendees. Based on their input, this bodes well for the industry’s immediate future.”

The 2009 event will be held Sunday March 22 to Tuesday March 24.
