Currys PC World shares predictions for Christmas housewares best sellers

Currys PC World has announced the products that it expects to be its big hitters this Christmas.

Included in its top 10 predictions are the Nutribullet Pro blender at number five, the KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer ( in Crystal Blue/Boysenberry) at number six and the Ninja Nutri blender at number 10.

The retailer said: “The trend for baking has risen to new heights over the past 12 months, and isn’t expected to slow with the new series of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ leading fans into Christmas. Last autumn, we saw a year-on-year sales spike of 80% for baking tech, including kitchen machines and stand mixers.

“KitchenAid’s classic Artisan Stand Mixer remains a firm favourite with the most dedicated of British bakers, available in a sweep of stylish colours to enrich any kitchen. New ‘must have’ colours for Christmas this year include Boysenberry and Crystal Blue.”

Other popular, colourful kitchen gadgets include Tassimo’s coffee makers (the colours Fuchsia and Lime are exclusive to Currys PC World) and the Breville toaster range, which is available in new shades of red, cream and purple.

Currys PC World added: “The nation also remains obsessed with eating clean. Getting your five-a-day has never been easier via the wide range of juicing and blending products on the market today.”

The chain has reported a 90% year-on-year rise in sales of high-speed blenders. The Nutribullet is “still incredibly popular” and its silver edition, exclusive to Currys PC World this year, is predicted to welcome strong customer demand this coming Christmas. Other colours are red and black. A full range of high speed blending accessories will be available too including variable cup sizes and a coffee grinder attachment.

This year customers can also opt for the Nutribullet Pro which offers an additional 300W of power versus the standard model “giving shopper’s even more choice ahead of the traditional New Year detox”.

Sarah Butcher, category manager for SKA [small kitchen appliances], said: “The kitchen is fast becoming the room in the house that customers are spending the most money on. Products are expected to look good on the kitchen counter as well as being practical and versatile. Gifting someone you love with the latest high speed blender ticks both these boxes.”
