Ideal Home Show is well under way

Crowds gathered outside Earls Court in London to watch celebrity ambassadors George Clarke, Melinda Messenger, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Alan Titchmarsh officially cut the ribbon to declare the show open.

The ambassadors were joined by surprise guests John Challis (AKA Boycie from ‘Only Fools and Horses’) and a Del Boy look alike, for the unveilling of the show’s ‘Only Fools and Horses’ refit.

A replica of Del Boy’s Peckham council flat was built and fully kitted out with the original psychedelic carpet and features taken from the TV series, including the living room bar.

The replica flat sat alongside a second property which was completely modernised and upgraded by TV presenter and architect George Clarke, who created a multifunctional modern home for city dwellers.

Held over 18 days until April 1, the Ideal Home Show 2013 is packed with interior inspiration, home improvements, show gardens, technology, shopping and food & housewares.

Housewares exhibitors include Bamix of Switzerland, Morphy Richards, Vitamix and Berghoff Worldwide.

Show highlights include the all new Super theatre hosting live demonstrations and advice from all of the show’s celebrity ambassadors, TV and industry experts; the first ever spring Drinks Theatre, sponsored by Regina, offering tips and tipples; the ‘You Can Do Theatre’ with B&Q; and the brand new Smart Home Technology area, powered by Virgin Media.
