Jamie tops The Sunday Times Bestsellers List

Jamie Oliver’s new cookbook is top of ‘The Sunday Times’ list of bestselling manuals.

‘5 Ingredients – Quick & Easy Food’ is a tie-in to the celebrity cook’s eight-part TV series called ‘Jamie’s Quick & Easy Food,’ which started on August 21 at 8pm on Channel 4.

The broadcaster said that each 30-minute episode in series presents ‘the ultimate set of go-to recipes for quick and easy cooking, using just five ingredients’.

In episode three, which airs tonight (Monday September 4) at 8pm on Channel 4, Jamie makes Asian fishcakes, lemony courgette linguine, sticky lamb chops and cherry chocolate mousse.

At number two is ‘Nadiya’s British Food Adventure’ by Nadiya Hussain. This book is a tie-in to the 2015 Bake Off winner’s current BBC2 show of the same name, which concludes tonight at 8.30pm on BBC2.

During the eight-part series, Nadiya has travelled across the country to meet growers, producers and pioneers behind ‘the best of modern British food’. Inspired by her exploration, Nadiya has created more than 120 recipes that mix the local ingredients she has encountered with her favourite flavours, with a nod to her Bangladeshi roots.

In tonight’s episode, Nadiya concludes her culinary road trip in Wales, to discover some of the food stories that has made the principality a foodie hotspot. But first she creates her take on the Welsh cake, with fennel flavoured versions served with a blueberry coulis. Once in Wales, she meets a sheep farmer and gets a crash course in the skills of a shepherdess. Nadiya then sets up a cooking station in the countryside to make a thank you meal of a fast lamb bhuna served with garlic naan.

She also heads to Monmouth to meet the UK’s only homegrown edible rosewater makers and helps harvest the last crops of roses. Nadiya then uses this specialist ingredient in a rose and raspberry fool, served with coconut flakes and homemade crystalised petals. Finally, back in her own kitchen, Nadiya celebrates the best of Welsh seafood by cooking popcorn mussels with paprika chive mayonnaise.

Nadiya is also on BBC2 on Thursday (September 7) as co-host of the competitive cookery show ‘The Big Family Cooking Showdown’, which airs at 8pm.

At number three is Joe Wicks’ ‘Cooking for Family and Friends: 100 Lean Recipes to Enjoy Together’. All the recipes are organised into reduced-carb and post-workout chapters, just like Joe’s first three ‘Lean in 15’ books. The recipes are described as ‘big on flavour and packed with the hero ingredients you need to impress your mates, fuel your workout and burn fat’.

At number four is ‘The Clever Guts Diet: How to Revolutionise your Body from the Inside Out’ by Dr Michael Mosley. Drawing from research, Dr Mosley provides scientifically proven ways to control cravings, boost mood, and lose weight by increasing ‘good gut bacteria’. The book features recipes, meal plans, checklists and tips.

The manuals list was published in ‘The Sunday Times’ ‘Culture’ magazine on September 3. The list was prepared by and data supplied by and copyright to Nielsen BookScan, taken from the TCM for the week ending August 26.
