John Lewis is expanding its range of in-store services and concessions as part of an £800 million transformation programme aimed at making its department stores more experiential destinations.
The retailer is introducing new partnerships spanning travel and fine art, while also expanding existing health, jewellery and piercing services across its store estate.
Among the additions is Audley Travel, which will open travel hubs across 12 John Lewis stores from November.
The partnership represents the travel specialist’s first high street presence in its 30-year history, with customers able to plan holidays to more than 90 destinations with specialist advisers.
The concessions will open in John Lewis stores including Cardiff, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Reading, Oxford Street, Peter Jones, Southampton and Cribbs Causeway.
John Lewis is also partnering with Clarendon Fine Art, which is introducing dedicated galleries offering personalised art consultancy and collections spanning contemporary artists and 20th-century names.
Galleries are now open at John Lewis Oxford Street and Southampton, with another set to open in Cheadle.
Meanwhile, Randox Health is expanding its preventative health checks and blood-testing clinics to four additional John Lewis stores, taking its total presence within the retailer to seven locations.
Luxury piercing brand Tish Lyon is also expanding following what John Lewis described as strong customer demand, with nine studios expected to be operating across the retailer’s estate by the end of the year.
The new concessions form part of John Lewis’s wider £800 million brand transformation, which includes four store refurbishments this year.
They will sit alongside the retailer’s existing services, including Home Design, Personal Styling and Nursery consultations. Demand for John Lewis’s advisory services increased by more than 5 per cent during the first half of the year.
Katie Papakonstantinou, Director of Services and Hospitality at John Lewis, said: “Our stores are the beating heart of the John Lewis brand, and physical retail is undergoing an exciting revolution.”
She added that shoppers increasingly want “inspiration, helpful expertise, and extraordinary experiences”, with the new partnerships intended to help drive footfall and build customer loyalty.
John Lewis currently operates 36 stores alongside its website and app, selling across categories including home, fashion, beauty and technology.
