Marks & Spencer hires new non-executive director

Marks & Spencer has appointed Cheryl Potter to its board as a non-executive director, effective from March 1.

Potter joins following a 20-year career at global private equity firm, Permira as head of the global consumer team. As well as leading the global consumer practice she served on the boards of brands including Dr Martens, Allegro, Homebase and Birds Eye.

M&S Chairman, Archie Norman, said: “I am delighted that a superstar of the private equity world is joining us at M&S. She brings enormous energy, passion and a strong shareholder value focus to the Board, as well as a great track record as a role model and advocate of women in leadership.”
