New phase for Alessi

The Alessi board of directors has appointed Marco Pozzo as the company’s new chief executive.

Marco, who took the helm on November 12, brings extensive managerial experience on an international level to Alessi. Over the past 15 years he has held several positions at the Ermenegildo Zegna Group: managing director/head of the market in Mexico, chief operating officer for the Greater China Region, global e–business director, overseeing the company’s digital aspects at the group’s head offices, and global retail ops director.

Alessi said the arrival of Marco ‘marks a new phase for Alessi’; this is the first time the Italian housewares supplier has introduced a chief executive from outside the family to its board of directors.

Michele Alessi, vice president of Alessi, commented: “We’re thrilled with the appointment of Marco Pozzo. His arrival marks a key moment in the start of a new cycle – one designed to deal with the generational change and new challenges posed by an ever-changing market. We have shared our vision for the company with Marco and we’re convinced that his competence, energy and human qualities are what we need to continue the success of our family firm and preserve our ‘special’ way of doing business.”

Following this appointment, Alessi’s board of directors now comprises: Alberto Alessi, president since 2009, who will continue his role as head of marketing strategy, communication and design management; Michele Alessi as vice president; Alessio Alessi, Stefano Alessi and Drew Keith as members of the board; and Marco Pozzo as chief executive.
